Charity

In 2004 Michael Lissner decided to walk the length of the Pacific Crest Trail for charity. On world AIDS awareness day, 2004, after much research, he chose the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI), a non-profit that spends millions each year on AIDS education and vaccine research.

To help raise the money, he started a website, AidsHike.org, which eventually became charityhikers.org, a site for those hiking long distances for any cause of their choice.

As of June, 2006, charityhikers.org has raised over $10,000 for charity.

Any money generated by the advertising on this site (for example the stuff at right) is donated directly to charityhikers.org, where it is split between all of the people currently hiking for a cause.
